While this calculator focuses on fuel costs, engine oil is another important vehicle expense. Here’s a brief overview of common engine oil types:

• Conventional Oil: The most basic type of motor oil, suitable for many older vehicles or those with simpler engine designs. Generally the least expensive option but may require more frequent oil changes.
• Synthetic Blend Oil: A mixture of conventional and synthetic oils. Offers better performance and protection than conventional oil at a mid-range price point.
• Full Synthetic Oil: Provides the highest level of engine protection and performance. Offers superior resistance to breakdown, better performance in extreme temperatures, and can often extend oil change intervals. Typically the most expensive option.
• High Mileage Oil: Formulated for vehicles with over 75,000 miles. Contains additives to help reduce leaks and oil consumption in older engines. Available in conventional, synthetic blend, and full synthetic options.
